photo: Trinidad Carnivals
While the winter weather continues to make me, and i’m sure others, miserable, it’s Carnival time in my home country of Trinidad & Tobago. The preparations and festivities begins after the christmas holidays, and climaxes the Monday and Tuesday prior to Ash Wednesday. Celebrations are enjoyed by young and old alike, and masquerade costumes run the range from fully painted bodies for J’ouvet (morning mass) to barely clad anatomies for day time masqueraders. Regardless of what one looks like or chooses to wear, jumping up and having fun is a privilege allowed anyone who so desires during the carnival season. Basically, you could love it and be part of it or hate it and get away from it. Ig’s hot! hot! hot! in Trinidad.
