One of the things i’ve been known to do, as i’m sure some of you do too, is put on a shoe, only to take it off later because the outfit i’m wearing does not quite match or go with the shoes. Recently, someone sent me a message asking what kind of outfit she should wear with her colored pumps. I immediately dug into my beauty/style scrap book, and what do you know, I found these clippings, from 2010, which I think is the perfect visual to help pair your shoes with an outfit.
The price and designers of these shoes are not the main focus of this post. So, don’t pay much attention or make yourself sick over the price tags. Well, I take that back. People who aren’t on a budget usually don’t pay attention to price, I think. I don’t know. But, i’m not paying attention.
I thought they were pretty right on with their suggestions. However, I go against the grain all the time. Hope this helps Melissa.

BLACK & STRAPPY
How to Wear: The LDB o the shoe world, this extremely versatile pick goes with anything (colors! Patterns! Solids!) and everything (Skirts! Pants! Jeans!). Tru a platform for extra comfort.
How to Wear: High-heeled and ballet-flat options put a feminine spin on the men’s classic. Play up the dichotomy by combining with a floral dress and boyfriend cardi or skinny cords and a chunky sweater.
How to Wear: These don’t need to be black, as long as they have buckles or other hardware to project a tough attitude. Try them in place of flat riding versions with leggings or a short full skirt and tights.
How to Wear: Select a closed-toe model to perk up those neutral office basics and black or gray tights instantly. Opt for a more elaborate design (and a nude pedicure) and you’re ready for cocktails.
How to Wear: Complement the sleek, sophisticated style with a fitted sheath or tailored separates, such as cropped cigarette pants, wide-leg trousers, or a pencil skirt.
