Montreal Weekend

Last week Saturday was my birthday, and I hate, hate birthday celebrations. No parties for me, thank you very much. Peace, quiet and perspective is my cup of tea.

I much prefer to go someplace i’ve never gone before or someplace I love and adore. And since I adore Montreal, Canada, and despite the very cold temperatures, I decided to spend my birthday weekend there. This was my first winter stay in Canada. And now I know why I cannot live in that country. It’s way to cooooooold for my hot blood.

I spent the day with my husband and daughter. We visited the Biome and planetarium, did some sightseeing downtown Montreal and enjoyed some fine dining. It was wonderful. I reflected on my past year, walked around in gratefulness, and graciously accepted all that is in my life.

Notice Zoe is wearing a different coat. We had to buy her one, because the green one she was wearing was not warm enough for the frigid Montreal temperature. Besides, she needed a new coat anyways. Yours truly did not buy one thing for herself. My birthdays are not about presents and purchases. I am grateful enough to be alive for another happy, healthy, year. And that’s no pomp. It’s always been my circumstance.

It was extremely cold on Saturday night. I added an additional pants for warmth.

  • What a nice post!! And what a wonderful way of celebrating your birthday. I totally agree with your point of view. I only have my mum over and brother with sister-in-law, Ron’s daughter Nicky and sometimes children of my brother. I use my birthday to gather my family whom I otherwise never see.
I love the picture of the three of you. Finally get to see your husband. He is very attractive. The two of you make a beautiful couple. Zoe I have seen a few times before, but these are good photos of her. And that red coat suits her so well.

    • That’s the way to go. Simple and happy. Good for you. So many people try to convince me to do parties, but it’s not for me…..xo
