It was father’s day yesterday, and i’m now posting an old pic, taken about a month ago for mother’s day. I went to the movies and splurged on some ice-cream. It was a beautiful day, and I could not wait to jump into my shorts. I love, love shorts: Ideally, 5 or 7 inches work well for me.
I recently had a conversation with a woman who said she doesn’t feel that shorts – of any kind – are appropriate for women over forty. When asked why, she said she doesn’t want to seem like she’s trying to be like her daughter. Other than this person, I know some other women who are over forty and have given up wearing shorts. Some for the same reason as this woman I spoke to. I don’t agree, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Others have said they are no longer comfortable in them, because they don’t like the way they look in them, or they don’t fit like they used to. And yet again some simply don’t like them, and their dislike has nothing to do with their age.
I totally understand the points of views, because there are some styles of clothing you’d never catch me dead wearing. And that’s totally my choice. I choose not to wear certain types of clothing because they may not be flattering for my shape, color, size, personality, or style mantra.
I’ll be wearing my shorts until these legs can’t walk anymore. By that time, i’ll probably move down to the longer 10 inches. I’m not joking.
What are your views? Do you wear shorts? Are there clothing items you don’t wear because you think it’s not age appropriate? What’s your reason for not wearing certain types of clothing?
